Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I make an appointment in the Urgent-Care Clinic?

Our Urgent-Care Clinic is available to all patients of the Bridgepoint Family Health Team who need urgent care due to the sudden onset of symptoms. We have Urgent-Care Clinics Monday-Thursday from 5-8 PM, and on Saturdays from 9AM to 11:30AM. This is not a walk-in clinic and an appointment needs to be made by calling our offices at 416-470-6690.

How do I get my prescriptions renewed?

Please book an appointment before you run out of medication. Your provider will have given you enough medication until the next time you are expected to be seen.

Prescription renewals without an appointment are not covered by OHIP. To get a prescription renewal without a visit, please ask your pharmacy to fax the requested medication to our office. Please note it can take 5 business days to have this completed as our clinic receives over 50 faxed requests for prescription renewals every day.

Tips to help you manage your medication:

  • Make an appointment before your medication is finished.

  • Make sure you have enough medication to last you until your next visit.

  • Write down the exact date of your last refill on the calendar or check with your pharmacist to see if you have refills available.

  • Bring ALL your medication to each appointment in order to ensure all prescriptions are reviewed and re-ordered if necessary.

Do I need an annual physical exam?

The funding for an annual physical examination was delisted by OHIP in 2013. An Periodic Health Review, comprised of vital signs measurements, evidence-based preventive care screening, and an update of your medical, social and family history is recommended and covered by OHIP. Further explanation of the Periodic Health Review is explained by the College of Family Physicians in this brochure. If you have not seen your family physician in the last 3 years, or have information that needs to be added to your chart, we recommend you book a Periodic Health Review.

The new Canadian guidelines for pap testing are every 3 years for those who are sexually active, aged 25-69 years and who have had previously normal pap results. Your healthcare provider may suggest that you come in more often if you have had an abnormal pap in the past.

Can I change the details of a scheduled visit?

Please call the clinic if you need to update the reason for your visit, or reschedule. If the information is not urgent send us a message.

Can I change my in-person timeslot be changed into a virtual visit? (or vice versa?)

Please call the clinic to discuss your options with regard to converting an in-person visit to a virtual consultation; or changing a virtual visit to an in-person. If your appointment is more than 5 days away you may also try to send us an electronic message.

Iā€™m worried I have COVID-19, should I avoid coming into the clinic?

Please be sure to wear a mask and let us know before you come in. The clinic has precautions set up for those who have COVID-19 and need to be seen. We may see you at the end of the day to minimize the risk for others.

Doctors make decisions about the need for an in-person assessment based on years of medical training and experience, on the individual's unique circumstances and specific health concern, and on the individual's overall medical history.

Requests to have a virtual appointment instead may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis only for patients who are at high risk of complications of COVID-19

I am not vaccinated against COVID-19. Am I able to book an in-person appointment?

Please be sure to wear a mask and let us know when you call for your appointment.

The clinic has precautions set up to keep you and those around you safe. We may see you at the end of the day to minimize the risk for others.
